About Dr. Wharton

A board-certified OB-GYN caring for women through every stage of reproductive life.

Dr. Brook Wharton is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University's McGaw Medical Center in Chicago. She also holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Columbia University — an early foundation that continues to shape her clinical approach.

Following residency, Dr. Wharton served as an OB Hospitalist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before returning to Chicago, where she spent more than a decade in private practice, most recently at The Association for Women's Health Care in Northbrook. Her clinical focus centers on health optimization during life's major transitions — preconception and the menopause continuum. She is a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM).

Dr. Wharton approaches care as an active listener and a thoughtful partner, working alongside patients to surface the real obstacles to their goals and to build practical strategies that fit their lives. Having navigated her own fertility challenges, pregnancy complications, and perimenopausal surprises, she brings personal understanding to the work and particular respect for what her patients are carrying.

Dr. Wharton lives in the Chicago area with her husband, two teenage boys, and two large, attention-loving dogs. Outside of medicine, she is an aspiring endurance athlete and an enthusiastic novice needlepointer.

"The evidence-to-practice gap in women's health is real — well-researched science can take years to reach the patients who need it most. I want to be part of a team that's working to close that gap."

— Dr. Brook Wharton, MD

In her own words

Why I joined Ovum Health

There are a few reasons I'm excited to join Ovum Health. At the top of the list: the chance to work with interesting, talented people, the chance to move the needle in healthcare in new ways, and the chance to reconnect with patients one-on-one in a way I've missed.

A lot of what Ovum offers is care I've long wanted to provide more of: lifestyle counseling. Nutrition support. The kind of patient education that actually changes day-to-day choices. In a traditional outpatient setting, the time and structure for that work is hard — arguably impossible — to come by, no matter how much a physician wants to deliver it. Ovum's model creates real room for it, and that energizes me. I wholeheartedly believe this guidance will extend past preconception and pregnancy and positively impact patients far beyond those chapters.

It's a simultaneously exciting and frustrating time to practice medicine. I want to be part of a team that's working to close the evidence-to-practice gap, and to deliver care that reflects what the evidence actually shows.
